The Band
Bill Thompson is the front man for the Bill Thompson Band. He plays the keyboard, bass, and sings lead vocals. Bill grew up in Pulteney NY and attended Hammondsport Central School. He studied mathematics and music at the State University of New York at Potsdam. He now works for the accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers as a mortgage banking advisory consultant. Bill enjoys music, computers, community theater, and poker.
Rick Akers is the lead guitar player for the Bill Thompson Band. He grew up in Pulteney NY and attended Hammondsport High School. Rick is a master clinical hypnotherapist. Rick enjoys boating on Keuka Lake, camping with his wife and 3 children, working on guitars, and playing music.



..........John plays drums for the band. John attended the Rochester Institute of Technology. He lives in Corning, NY. John has played with many fine musicians and great bands through the years.

Close Friends of the Band


Gary Wilson dedicated 5 years to the band as our drummer between ’03 and ’05 and then ’07 to ’08. He also offered us use of his studio, Crowsong Recordings for rehearsals and demo work.


Michael Wilkinson played drums for the band from ’06 to ’07.

Bill Thompson Sr. and Elayne Thompson, Bill’s parents, are frequent fans of the band and can always be counted on for support.


Kristine Akers, Rick’s wife, is a frequent fan of the band. I can always count on a whooo-hooo from Kris as soon as we kick in to Mustang Sally.
